![]() Sidenote, though the film seems to want to present him as a good man, I don't think the archdeacon is a beacon of morality. ![]() I actually like this change, it's more interesting commentary to see a religious man in an non-religious institution justify misuse of his power with religion. The archdeacon is a separate character, the one who stops Frollo from killing Quasimodo at the start. I'd add that in this film, Frollo is a Judge/Chief Justice, not part of the Catholic Church itself (though very much an extremely religious man who very much judged people using his interpretation of his faith over the actual laws of the land).
